The Directorate of Intelligence functions as an all-source intelligence production facility focused on timely identification of threats to Nigeria’s national security for informed strategic response. Through collaboration with domestic intelligence agencies and international partners, the Directorate provides a comprehensive and integrated picture of threats, vulnerabilities and opportunities to enable the NSA take informed decisions in the interest of national security. The Directorate comprises analysts from the Armed Forces, intelligence and law enforcement agencies. The Directorate monitors terrorism activities and violent extremism, secessionist agitation groups, farmers-herder conflict, maritime security and other organized crime groups involved in banditry, kidnapping, cattle rustling, small arms and light weapons proliferation and drug trafficking.
