The Department of Investigations, formerly known as the Special Investigation Team (SIT), was domiciled at the ONSA. The department’s mandate was the investigation of money laundering cases involving security agencies as directed by the NSA. The Department consists of investigators from the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) and the Armed Forces. Following the enactment of the TPPA 2022, the Department was reorganized into 3 teams to better support the activities of the NCTC. The teams cover general terrorism investigation, terrorism financing and de-radicalization monitoring.
