The Department of Strategic Communications comprises 4 supporting units namely Media Relations, Content Development and Analysis, Outreach as well as Communication and Language. The roles of the Department are as follows:
- Develop and disseminate appropriate narratives (Counter, alternative and positive) to address extremist ideologies.
- Strengthen digital communication platforms (the internet, social media etc) and strategies in countering extremist narratives.
- Communicate swiftly with the local community.
- Build capacity of local voices for safe and quick response to extremist ideologies.
- Strengthen offline communication assets and strategies (drama, radio, music, inter-religious dialogues, among others) in countering extremists’ narratives.
