Experts from the European Union (EU) Delegation to Nigeria and ECOWAS led by Ms Letiza Torretta, the EU Delegation Programme Manager on Peace and Security visited the National Counter Terrorism Centre (NCTC) on 11 March, 2024.
The visit was part of a formulation mission to support the design of a new regional programme in Nigeria, Cameroon, Chad and Niger. The future regional programme is expected to complement other similar regional initiatives funded by the EU or other International Partners and guarantee close collaboration with regional organisations.
Speaking at the meeting, the National Coordinator, NCTC, Rear Admiral YEM Musa (rtd), PhD, noted that the commitment and support of the Europian Union for Nigerian’s Counter Terrorism efforts was aimed at building resilience and safer communities in the country. He also commended the Organisation for the efforts at ensuring the implementation of the Policy Framework and National Action Plan for Preventing and Countering Violent Extremism (PF-NAP for PCVE), through their numerous projects, especially the recently concluded EU Support for Reintegration and Reconciliation (S2R) Project.
