Harps On Discipline, Dedication to Defeat Terrorism

Following his recent appointment by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Major General Adamu Garba Laka today officially took over as the National Coordinator, National Counter Terrorism Centre (NCTC), Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA).

While receiving the handover document from his predecessor, Rear Admiral Yaminu Musa (rtd), General Laka who described his appointment by President Tinubu as an honour, said all hands must be on deck to defeat the hydra-headed terror in Nigeria.
The new Coordinator urged staff to show more dedication and discipline in discharging their duties towards the attainment of the mandate of the Centre. He says, “I expect nothing less than 100 percent from my staff”.

Earlier, the immediate past National Coordinator of the Centre, Rear Admiral Yaminu Musa (rtd) thanked Mr. President and the National Security Adviser, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu for the opportunity to serve the country in such an important capacity.
Rear Admiral Musa noted that during his tenure, the Centre embarked on various initiatives such as the establishment of the Multi-Agency Anti-Kidnap Fusion Centre and Counter Financing of Terrorism Joint Standing Committee, among others bordering on Countering Violent Extremism and improving Aviation Security.

According to him, the NCTC has also within the period, made other remarkable achievements including the signing of Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the United Nations Office of Counter Terrorism (UNOCT), establishment of Open-Source Intelligence cell for effective investigation and prosecution of terrorism related cases, as well as strategic control and tracking of explosives in the country.

Highlights of the ceremony include the signing and exchange of hand/taking over notes.
