In line with the long standing mutual interest and collaboration between Nigeria and the Arab Republic of Egypt on issues relating to combating violent extremism and terrorism, Ambassador Mohamed Fouad visited the National Counter Terrorism Centre (NCTC), Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA) on 21 March, 2024 to seek ways of strengthening the existing relationship.
While welcoming the Ambassador and his entourage, the National Coordinator, NCTC, Retired Rear Admiral YEM Musa, PhD congratulated the Egyptian Envoy on his posting to Nigeria. He assured him of a peaceful stay in the country, stressing the existing close collaboration between the two nations particularly, the National Counter Terrorism Centre and the Cairo International Centre for Conflict Resolution, Peacekeeping and Peacebuilding in Africa (CCCPA).
The two parties agreed to leverage the longstanding technical and field-focused expertise of the CCCPA in establishing operational framework for Preventing and Countering Violent Extremism (PCVE) and Disarmament, Demolibilisation and Reintegration (DDR) in Nigeria.
