NIGERIA, CZECH REPUBLIC REAFFIRM COMMITMENT TO END TERRORISM

 

Concerned about the peace and security in the ECOWAS sub-region and Africa Continent in general, Nigeria and Czech Republic have reaffirmed partnership to end threats of terrorism and other violent crimes.

The Nigerian Government made the commitment in Abuja at a meeting represented by the National Coordinator, National Counter Terrorism Centre (NCTC), Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA), Major General Adamu Garba Laka and his management team  with a delegation  led by the National Security Advisor (NSA) of the Republic of Czech, Ambassador Tomas Pojar, along with the Plenipotentiary of the Czech Republic in Nigeria, His Excellency Zdenek Krejci at the NCTC in Abuja, on Tuesday, March 25, 2025.

While welcoming the guests, the NCTC boss, Maj Gen Laka, noted that concerted efforts are being made by the Government of Nigeria to end terrorism in the country while also engaging other countries in ECOWAS, the Sahel and the entire African Continent with international partners to achieve peace and stability in the subregion.

General Laka solicited the cooperation of the Czech Republic, and acknowledged the support given so far towards ending terrorism in Nigeria and Africa as a whole.

In his speech, the NSA of the Republic of Czech, Ambassador Pojar, said that the roles of the league of nations in the fight against terrorism could not be over-emphasized. He added that the size of Nigeria is central to the stability of the West Africa sub-region and the African continent in general.

Directors and Heads of Departments highlighted the responsibilities of their various Directorates and Departments.

The National Coordinator also led the delegation of the Czech Republic to the Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa for further discussions on defence and security matters.
